Long Term Recovery Committee
County Executive Mike Farmer (Roane County Executive: September 1, 2006 - August 31, 2010) formed a committee to deal with the long term effects of the TVA Ash Spill which occurred on December 22, 2008. That committee was the Long Term Recovery Committee.

Mission Statement

Gather input from stakeholders, maintain open lines of communication with citizens; local, state, and federal officials and TVA, and develop a course of action that addresses the full recovery of Roane County's environment, economy, and perception of the quality of life of the county as it recovers from the events of December 22, 2008 at the Kingston Fossil Plant on the Emory River. 

Goal

Reestablish and improve the quality of life in Roane County that existed prior to the December 22nd ash spill at the Kingston Fossil Fuel Plant.
